OPENair Academy is inspired by the Reggio Emilia schools of northern Italy.

Reggio Emilia schools have long been hailed as the leaders in progressive education and are world renowned for their unique approach to early education. The idea of children as competent learners that can co-create meaningful experiences in a project-oriented environment is just one of the things that set the Reggio Emilia approach apart from other child care models.

Our Reggio Emilia Inspired Schools

We have intentionally designed our Reggio inspired schools to enhance the daily learning experience for children. Each school is part of an urban repurpose project where developers, builders, designers and architects worked together to build one-of-a-kind learning environments where the Reggio inspired approach to learning comes alive. Classrooms open to their own outdoor learning spaces and provide easy connection between outdoor and indoor learning. With an abundance of natural light, flexible classroom space and natural materials throughout, we have created environments where the children’s work can be celebrated and easily displayed.

OPENair RiNo

OPENair Academy RiNo is nestled in a unique urban community that is comprised of some of Denver and the nation’s most creative, successful and progressive individuals and companies. As a part of Denver’s TAXI community – located in the River North Neighborhood just north of Coors Field – OPENair Academy RiNo provides an interactive learning environment in an energetic setting.

OPENair Stanley (formerly Stapleton)

A unique urban development situated on 22 acres of land just outside downtown Denver, the Stanley Marketplace is a community-inspired marketplace that offers a diverse group of independently owned businesses. As a part of this mixed-use development, our newest school focuses on finding opportunities to share the joy of learning and build community with our neighbors.

Our Reggio Emilia Approach Programs

At OPENair Academy, our goal is to ensure that children have the opportunity to explore the world at their own pace, develop meaningful relationships with their peers and teachers, and learn from each other. We offer full time and flexible part-time programs to meet the needs of Denver’s urban families.

Infant Program

RiNo / Stanley (formerly Stapleton)

Our Infant program, designed for children 6 weeks through 18 months of age, has been specially designed to to help children build relationships as they explore and discover the world round them Warm and nurturing teachers ensure that each child has the individualized care and attention they deserve.

Toddler Program

RiNo / Stanley (formerly Stapleton)

The Toddler program is designed for children from 18 months to 36 months of age. During this time, children make great developmental strides from their first steps to potty training. Energetic and experienced teachers encourage the energy and curiosity of toddlers, and provide endless opportunities for exploration and investigation. This program focuses on helping children express their understandings of the exciting world around them.

Preschool Program

RiNo / Stanley (formerly Stapleton)

Our Preschool program is designed for children 3 years to 5 years of age who are ready for more in depth exploration and projects to stimulate their growing intellect. These classrooms are designed with a wide variety of materials and equipment for the children to use in their deeper explorations of the world and their imaginations. Our rich environment facilitates a holistic approach to education focused on the development of the whole child. The skills of questioning, hypothesizing, exploring and problem solving are the main focus of our preschool program; all aimed at creating a life-long love of learning.
